Playdough is a favourite of all the children whether it be the process of making it, creating it or using it to help us relax and calm. It is also a playful way to explore mathematical concepts such as fractions. Fractions are something that children naturally include in their play every day. They half, quarter and eighth effortlessly dividing the big ball of playdough to their friends. They understand that when there are 4 children at the table their play dough piece may be smaller than if they were working alone. They also easily divide their playdough in half if a friend comes to join and they don't have any. Complex equations made easy as it is facilitated through play with hands on experiences.
